I've been told once or TWICE :) that they struggle the most with eating at night. I started to do research on this and learned that cravings mostly come out at night. I was surprised because it is the opposite for me. I always want to eat more in the morning. But hey, we are all different! So to feel better you can blame your hunger on natural biology. Recent research from Oregon Health & Science University says that our circadian rhythms are hard-wired to drive desire for sugary, starchy, and salty foods at night. So here I came up with 10 tips to help control late night hunger.

1. BEFORE anything drink water! Sometimes dehydration is often confused by hunger. If you drink a big glass of water and are still hungry then turn to food.

2. Eat something high in protein.

3. Control your mind. Start working on the mental aspect of wanting to eat at night. It may be a habit and breaking habits is hard but if you want to beat the cravings then don't give in. Having control of your mind is powerful and harder than you think but you can do it!

4. Don't eat in front of the TV. Sometimes the habit is caused by eating and watching TV. Start a habit to where you don't eat in front of the TV at night if you know this is where the mindless snacking gets out of control.

5. Go to bed earlier. Everyone could use more sleep anyways. The later you stay up the more you will want to eat.

6. Eat more fiber throughout the day. A diet rich in fiber is supposed to control hunger and late night eating. Soluble fiber stabilizes blood sugar levels so that you don't wind up craving sugary treats at night, and insoluble fiber fills your stomach to reduce hunger pains.

7. Cut out the wine. Lets face it, alcohol is never going to get you closer to your goals.

8. Only keep healthy foods in your house. Don't give yourself access to treats and cheats in your house.

9. Find something else to do. Get a good book. Take your mind off of snacking. I think a lot of snacking has to do with boredom. (I've definitely been there )!

10.

If you really are hungry make sure you take the correct portion size out so you don't overeat by not paying attention to each bite.
